Plastic Fittings and Clamps

Plastic fittings are connectors and connection elements for tubing and tubing systems within biopharmaceutical processes. The variety of GMPTEC fittings covers a broad range of applications and allows the user to chose between multi-use and single-use components.

Additionally, we keep a large assortment of different plastic tubing- and sanitary clamps in stock. These plastic clamps have some clear advantages compared to versions made of stainless steel, especially associated with single-use systems.

Plastic Adapters, Clamps and more

The product range of GMPTEC plastic fittings covers components like reducers, wye pieces, tee- and cross pieces with hose barbs, but also various Tri-Clamp adapters and Luer-Lock connectors.

Many of these components are available in different materials, which allows to basically cover all processes and areas of application. Besides materials like Polypropylene, which is commonly used for gamma sterilized assemblies, we also offer components made of PVDF and Polyolefin that are ideal for critical applications and high temperatures.

Irradiation resistant components are especially being used for single-use systems, because they are necessary for the manufacturing of gamma sterilized tubing-, filtration- or sampling assemblies. Therefore, the material Polypropylene is commonly used.

However, multi-use systems focus on materials that are designed for repeated use and sterilization.  Due to its high temperature range and general resistance, PVDF is a common material for this type of systems.

Our portfolio also includes a large range of Luer-Lock fittings. This type of connection is commonly used for medical technologies or in laboratories and stands out due to its easy and quick handling. Luer adapters in combination with sampling syringes are also commonly being used for sampling applications in biopharmaceutical processes.

GMPTEC offers you short lead times, large stock, cleanroom manufacturing and huge flexibility in terms of purchasing quantities, packaging units and call orders! Every component will be shipped with a batch-related certificate of conformance!

Besides standard plastic fittings, GMPTEC also offers a large portfolio of quick couplers and sterile connectors: Plastic Couplers

Frequently asked Questions about Plastic Fittings and Clamps:

What are the advantages of plastic sanitary clamps?2019-12-20T13:05:49+00:00

Especially in terms of assemblies, there are many advantages when using plastic Tri-Clamp clamps. On one hand, the much lighter weight, which eases the handling and allows an easier fixation of the assembly within a rack or something similar. On the other hand, the reduced risk of damaging components, which can easily occur when using common stainless steel sanitary clamps in combination with plastic parts. If the stainless steel clamps is tightened too much, plastic components are often damaged due to the high pressure – this can hardly happen when using plastic sanitary clamps.

What’s the ideal way to fixate a tubing on the hose barb?2019-12-20T12:30:31+00:00

Most pharmaceutical companies accept three types of fixture.

  1. Fixture with one or two cable ties
  2. Fixture with stainless steel Oetiker clamps
  3. Fixture with Barblock or PureFit SIB retainers made by Saint-Gobain
Can plastic fittings be autoclaved?2019-12-20T12:26:29+00:00

Components made of thermoplastic materials like Polypropylene can be autoclaved, but only to a limited extent. It’s best to use fittings made of PVDF or Polyolefin, which have a higher temperature resistance and are perfectly suitable for autoclaving processes.
